George Bush did his best to help his brother's re-election campaign last week by proposing that the federal government buy out the companies that held the untapped oil and gas drilling rights in the Everglades and Gulf of Mexico. However, the same administration has declined to extend the same treatment to equally unpopular untapped oil and gas leases off of the California coast. And—surprise—the governor of California is a Democrat.
